How do I sign up?

There are several options: You can book online by going to the "Upcoming Classes" page on this website or fill out this form to set up your course or send an email to Info@ForestCityFirstAid.com or message us on FaceBook/ Instagram @ForestCityFirstAid and we will help you set up a course that works for everyone! You can sign up for an exclusive group course just for your group (must be a group of 3 or more) or you can take it with other people who are also interested in taking the course.

How many people will be in the course with me?

To provide the best experience possible and to create a safer environment for you to learn, class size will cap off at 8 candidates. If your group is bigger than 8, we can have a bigger class with no problem. Just shoot us a message and we'll set it up a private course with you right away!

I want a private course, how does it work?

Please fill out this form and we will get in touch with you right away. Let us know what days are best for you and you have the option of choosing to take it at our location or at the comfort of your home for additional $10 per person. There must be enough space for the group to work on the ground and a TV/projector must be provided for the instructor to use. All private courses with less than 3 people will have an additional $50 fee split amongst the group. If the private group is 3 people or higher the fee will be waived. Example: A group of 2 wants a private EFA course at their house. Cost: $80 EFA course fee + $10 At your location fee + $50 private fee/2 people = $115 per person

Why should I take my course with you?

With Forest City First Aid, you will be in a smaller group maximum of 8 candidates to deliver an exclusive course customized to the group. You will get a chance to practice actually giving artificial breaths on realistic manikins (other organizations rarely ever do this because of larger class sizes and extra cost). At an additional cost, we can come to your location to teach, and we are flexible with scheduling as well. We have a 100% pass rate so far because there is no set finishing time, the instructor will continue teaching until everyone is comfortable including the instructor (max. 16 hours of teaching for SFA, 8 hours for EFA, 8 hours for CRP-A/B/C/HCP). As this is a private course, we can tailor the course to the needs of our clients to get the most out of our course.

How long will the course take?

We customize each class to the candidates work, career, needs and wants. The actual time needed may vary depending on course format, the number of candidates and the learning activities selected. One weekend formats are common. Based on 12–16 candidates: Emergency First Aid: ~8 hours, Standard First Aid: ~16 hours, SFA Recert: ~6.5-8 hours, CPR-A/B/C: ~4-8 hours, CPR-HCP: ~6-8 hours. If the class needs more practice and help, the instructor will continue to teach at no extra cost up to maximum class hours plus an hour. We want you to be prepared, comfortable and get certified!

Do I need to bring or prepare anything?

Unless you are taking the SFA Recert or the Airway Management course you don’t need to bring anything but feel free to bring something to take notes. Please bring your SFA certification to the SFA Recert and the Airway Management course or your Lifesaving Society ID. Equipment will be provided for you. All we ask from you is energy and excitement to learn!

What is the Lifesaving Society ID and where can I find mine?

Your Member ID is the 6-digit code on the bottom right of your certification cards. If you can't find your Member ID call the Ontario Lifesaving Society branch 416-490-8844 and they will help you out.

Where is Forest City First Aid located?

The course will be taught at the instructor's house. It is located within the Sunningdale neighbourhood in London, Ontario. The exact address will be given after booking for privacy reasons. The course can also take place anywhere in London, ON at your location for an additional $10 per person as long as there is enough space for your group and a TV/projector is available for the instructor to use.

Is it possible to see the instructor's certificate? How can I check mine?

Once you sign up you can message us if you are interested in seeing the instructor's certifications. We will happily provide it to you. You can verify your certification on the Lifesaving Society’s website under “ Find A Member” and typing in your LSS ID code. You will see all your certifications as well as the date you got them.

How do I pay?

You can pay with your credit card, cash, cheque or e-transfer to Info@ForestCityFirstAid.com on the day of the course. You can also pay with your credit card online on our website when signing up to a course or if an invoice is sent to you.

How will I receive my certification?

The instructor will submit the test sheet to the Lifesaving Society within 24 hours after the course ends, and the Lifesaving Society of Ontario will mail you the certification within 90 days. If you are in need of the certification faster, we have temporary certifications available free of charge. :)

Is it safe to put my mouth on the pocket mask provided?

We disinfect the manikins and pocket masks with alcohol wipes, UV light and replaces the lungs before EVERY class. If you are not comfortable with putting your mouth on the pocket mask that is okay but we highly encourage you to do so for practice. How fast and how much you blow into the lungs do matter, and it’s fun!

What do I do if I don't receive my certification in the main within 90 days?

Please contact the Lifesaving Society of Ontario 416-490-8844 if you do not receive your permanent card before the 90 day expiry date.

Am I eligible to take this course?

YES! All courses provided except the SFA Recert and the Airway Management do not have any prerequisites so anyone can take the course. If you are taking the courses mentioned above you must have SFA certification.

Are there cancellation fees?

There are no cancellation fees, and we understand unexpected things may come up, but please let us know at least 48 hours in advance if possible so we can give your spot to someone else. Please only sign up if you know you are free the day of the course. You can always message us and we can set up a course that works for you.

Can I take the SFA Recert?

WSIB'S SFA RECERT POLICY: The Ontario Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) specifies that Standard First Aid (SFA) award holders may recertify just once on a SFA recertification course. To renew a SFA certification subsequently, WSIB requires you to repeat the full course. Thereafter, you may renew by alternating recertifications and original courses. If your SFA certification is older than three years, WSIB requires that you take the full course (not a recert) again. Holders of Standard First Aid certificates must recertify only with the original certifying agency. Check your Lifesaving Society qualifications using " Find a Member" before you attend your Standard First Aid recertification to make sure you meet WSIB's requirement.

Are your certifications nationally recognized and recognized by the Ontario's Workplace Safety & Insurance Board?

YES! All courses we provide are.

How long are my certifications valid for?

EFA and SFA are valid for 3 years. CPR-A/B/C/HCP and Airway Management are valid for 2 years.

Do you operate outside of London? How about Toronto?

Yes, as long as you are within 3 hours from London! For now, we teach private groups of 8 or more outside of London. The group must provide space for the instructor to teach. Please send us a message if you are interested.

How does your price compare to others'?

Forest City First Aid prices are competitive to the industry level within London, Ontario.
