Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sign up?
There are several options: You can book online by going to the "Upcoming Classes" page on this website or fill out this form to set up your course or send an email to
How many people will be in the course with me?
To provide the best experience possible and to create a safer environment for you to learn, class size will cap off at 8 candidates. If your group is bigger than 8, we can have a bigger class with no problem. Just shoot us a message and we'll set it up a private course with you right away!
I want a private course, how does it work?
Why should I take my course with you?
With Forest City First Aid, you will be in a smaller group maximum of 8 candidates to deliver an exclusive course customized to the group. You will get a chance to practice actually giving artificial breaths on realistic manikins (other organizations rarely ever do this because of larger class sizes and extra cost). At an additional cost, we can come to your location to teach, and we are flexible with scheduling as well. We have a 100% pass rate so far because there is no set finishing time, the instructor will continue teaching until everyone is comfortable including the instructor (max. 16 hours of teaching for SFA, 8 hours for EFA, 8 hours for CRP-A/B/C/HCP). As this is a private course, we can tailor the course to the needs of our clients to get the most out of our course.
How long will the course take?
We customize each class to the candidates work, career, needs and wants. The actual time needed may vary depending on course format, the number of candidates and the learning activities selected. One weekend formats are common. Based on 12–16 candidates: Emergency First Aid: ~8 hours, Standard First Aid: ~16 hours, SFA Recert: ~6.5-8 hours, CPR-A/B/C: ~4-8 hours, CPR-HCP: ~6-8 hours. If the class needs more practice and help, the instructor will continue to teach at no extra cost up to maximum class hours plus an hour. We want you to be prepared, comfortable and get certified!
Do I need to bring or prepare anything?
Unless you are taking the SFA Recert or the Airway Management course you don’t need to bring anything but feel free to bring something to take notes. Please bring your SFA certification to the SFA Recert and the Airway Management course or your Lifesaving Society ID. Equipment will be provided for you. All we ask from you is energy and excitement to learn!
What is the Lifesaving Society ID and where can I find mine?
Your Member ID is the 6-digit code on the bottom right of your certification cards. If you can't find your Member ID call the Ontario Lifesaving Society branch 416-490-8844 and they will help you out.
Where is Forest City First Aid located?
Is it possible to see the instructor's certificate? How can I check mine?
How do I pay?
You can pay with your credit card, cash, cheque or e-transfer to Info@ForestCityFirstAid.com on the day of the course. You can also pay with your credit card online on our website when signing up to a course or if an invoice is sent to you.
How will I receive my certification?
The instructor will submit the test sheet to the Lifesaving Society within 24 hours after the course ends, and the Lifesaving Society of Ontario will mail you the certification within 90 days. If you are in need of the certification faster, we have temporary certifications available free of charge. :)
Is it safe to put my mouth on the pocket mask provided?
We disinfect the manikins and pocket masks with alcohol wipes, UV light and replaces the lungs before EVERY class. If you are not comfortable with putting your mouth on the pocket mask that is okay but we highly encourage you to do so for practice. How fast and how much you blow into the lungs do matter, and it’s fun!
What do I do if I don't receive my certification in the main within 90 days?
Please contact the Lifesaving Society of Ontario 416-490-8844 if you do not receive your permanent card before the 90 day expiry date.
Am I eligible to take this course?
YES! All courses provided except the SFA Recert and the Airway Management do not have any prerequisites so anyone can take the course. If you are taking the courses mentioned above you must have SFA certification.
Are there cancellation fees?
There are no cancellation fees, and we understand unexpected things may come up, but please let us know at least 48 hours in advance if possible so we can give your spot to someone else. Please only sign up if you know you are free the day of the course. You can always message us and we can set up a course that works for you.
Can I take the SFA Recert?
Are your certifications nationally recognized and recognized by the Ontario's Workplace Safety & Insurance Board?
YES! All courses we provide are.
How long are my certifications valid for?
EFA and SFA are valid for 3 years.
Do you operate outside of London? How about Toronto?

Social distancing will be in effect between students and the instructor when possible. When it is not possible, students will be required to wash their hands before and after activites. All students and instructors will also be screened prior to entering their class.
What is the maximum number of students in a class?
We will limit our class sizes to the maximum number of people for social gatherings. This will change depending on any new updates and recommendations following the government’s suggestions.
